Playing Catch-Up!

We have had a busy couple of weeks! Ayden has recovered from his injury and we had the staples taken out (which was actually a worse experience than having them put in). With The Wiggles, play dates (one of which I hosted), a birthday party for my grandma at our house, swimming, and trying to pack for a 10-day vacation, I have been busy! I don't have many pictures to show off, but here are a few:

A couple from the park on Saturday:

On Sunday we went up to a lake for a little picnic. Well, the map said it was a lake, but really it was more narrow than some rivers, but there was no current, so I guess that's why it was called a lake. We ate our lunches, Ken & Ayden swam a little, I waded and watched and took pictures. (I don't like swimming in lakes, although this one was really clear.) We weren't there very long, but it was still something fun to do!

The Wiggles!

We were lucky enough to see The Wiggles last week! Ayden doesn't watch them often, but our neighbor gave us free tickets so we couldn't pass it up. We took some friends with us and had a blast!

Ayden & ZackThe car was Ayden's favorite part. He kept saying "I want them to bring the car back out!"Sing it with me..."Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy!"

No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!!

Literally. Ayden learned his lesson the hard way. He was supposed to be in his bed, but instead snuck into our room and was jumping on our bed, hit his head on the headboard, and got a big ol' gash. Head wounds bleed profusely, of course, so it looked way worse than it actually was. He was such a trooper and let us clean him up, to discover that it was bad enough to need stitches. We loaded him in the car, and headed to the ER. On the way there, I was envisioning it taking half the night because of all the ER horror stories I've heard. We were so lucky that was not the case. We were in and out in about an hour. Ayden was in a great mood, I think he was excited because he knew he was up late. On the way there, he was singing "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" - we were cracking up! It was at that point that we relaxed and knew our little guy was fine. Ayden only cried while the doctor put in the staples, which by the way, I did not know were actually metal staples that look like the ones in a staple gun - yikes! It was our turn to cry when we found out we have a $100 copay for the ER - yikes again!
We headed home and he fell asleep in the car. When he woke up as Ken was getting him out of the car he said, "Daddy I had a bad dream." It was hilarious because we have been talking about dreams a lot and how they are just pretend. We had to tell him that "the big hole in his head" (his words-not ours) was, in fact, real.
I resisted the urge to grab my camera on the way out the door, but did get a few snapshots from my phone.

Here he is on the way to the hospital, complete with the bloody pj's. Ken had the forethought to grab a towel so we didn't get an blood on the carseat!

He was asking the nurse questions about all of the equipment "What's that for? What's that?

Here he is waiting in the exam room. We changed him out of the bloody shirt as soon as we could. We had to sing songs to keep him distracted because the kid in the next room over was screaming at the top of his lungs!

Belated Father's Day Pics

Thanks the to wonderful and talented Shannon, we had some great pictures for Ken for Father's Day.

Fourth of July

To borrow a phrase from one of our friends....We had quite a "big day" on Saturday.

We started our morning with a neighborhood parade and pancake breakfast. It was so much fun, I'm sure it will become an annual tradition.

Ayden waving his "Mermerinan" Flag His bike all decorated for the parade
The parade is about to begin
Ayden loved this little noisemaker
After a break and a nap, we headed to a party....swimming, a trampoline, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, and margaritas & beer for the adults.....What more could we have asked for?

After another break, we waited for it to get dark so we could head over to a local park with Uncle Matthew, Aunt Dominique, and some neighbors to watch the city's fireworks show.

Matthew & Dominique kept Ayden busy with a little football and soccer

No pictures of the fireworks because I was too busy "OOH"ing and "AAHH"ing. We had a great Independence Day! Ayden woke up on Sunday and asked if we were going to watch the fire again...guess he had fun!
