Moo Moo Cow

One of Ayden's favorite songs on the radio right now is "Moo Moo Cow", which is known to the rest of the world as "Boom Boom Pow" by the Black Eyed Peas. He sang along with the song the first time he heard it as "Moo Moo Cow" and now we egg him on whenever it comes on because it's so cute. Today when it came on the radio in the car, I grabbed my phone and took a video. Since it's from my phone, the quality isn't that great, but you get the idea.

Our Anniversary Weekend

We spent last weekend in San Francisco to celebrate our anniversary. Ayden stayed with my mom, so that made a good weekend great! We stayed at a great little hotel in Pacifica that was right on the beach and our "partial ocean view" was actually pretty good.

We drove into the city to see the King Tut exhibit at the de Young museum. Now, being that I teach about Ancient Egypt every year, I was totally enthralled and even Ken admitted that it was pretty cool. We couldn't take pictures, which kind of sucked because I wanted to take a bunch to show future students, but oh well. It was really hard to wrap our heads around the fact that the artifacts were 3500+ years old because they were still in great condition.

After a nice dinner out, we headed back to Pacifica and sat out on the beach with a bottle of wine. Sunday we took our bikes and rode around Golden Gate Park on what was maybe one of the best days (weather-wise) in SF. Perfect 75 ish degrees and sunny - no fog, no wind (which is pretty rare), and definitely in contrast to the 110 degree heat that greeted us when we got home. We had a great weekend away and even missed Ayden a little :)

What a fun week!

We've had a great and busy week! Playdates every day! Here are a few highlights:

Monday we had friends over for playing, lunch, and swimming. Wyatt couldn't stay for swimming, but here are Ayden and Katie in the pool

Ryan wanted in on the action too, but the water was a tad too deep for him.What a silly boy!

After Pump it Up on Tuesday and a birthday party on Wednesday (no pictures from those days), Thursday we met some friends in Stockton to check out the Children's Museum:

Cutie-Pie

After swimming yesterday, Ayden was sitting wrapped up in his towel and here's the conversation that followed...

Me: You sure are cute!

Ayden: See me cute (smiles)

Me: Yep

Ayden: You going to take a picture of me, mommy?

Me: (laughing) You want me to take your picture?

Ayden: Yes, mommy, I'm cute, go get your camera.

Me: Ok, it's upstairs, wait here and don't move

(at this point, I went in to get my camera, fully expecting to see him out of his towel, and having no interest in having his picture taken when I got back.)

Instead, I found him like this...

this last one was 30 seconds later when he wiggled out of the towel and was getting down off the chair to run around the backyard

Ayden's first movie

I took Ayden to see Madagascar 2 today for his first movie theater experience. He is finally able to sit through a 1/2 hour show or two so I thought he might like the real thing. One of our local theaters has free kids movies during the summer. I wasn't about to spend money on a movie we might be leaving early. Well, he sat through most of it (in his seat, on my lap, standing in front of me, in his seat, on my lap, standing in front of me, repeat). Despite his wiggling, we made it through the whole movie and all of the snacks I brought. We'll definitely be going back for more movies this summer and maybe eventually to a new release that we actually have to pay for :)

Water play

Today we went to a local park that has a fun water feature. Ayden had lots of fun, but kept "stealing" other kids' buckets and water toys (after they would set them down). I had to step in when he wouldn't give a truck back and the owner of the truck pushed Ayden. Guess we need to bring our own buckets next time.

Super Why!

Ayden's favorite show these days is Super Why, so when I saw that Toys R Us was having a free "Super Why Event", we had to go. It was really cute, they had masks, coloring pages, stickers, and temporary tatoos. They did story time and the kids got their very own "super duper computers" to write the "super letters" in from the story. Ayden had a blast!

No, he can't actually write - he was just pretending because some of the other kids were actually writing. I was pretty excited because it's the most "correct" I've ever seen him hold a crayon.

Busy Busy Busy

Wow, I have a lot to catch up on from the last few weeks. In addition to it being the last couple weeks of school and all the craziness that goes along with that, we've had a house guest. Her name is Olga and she is a doctor from Russia and has been here with a program through Ken's work. She and the other 9 doctors in her group are learning about American health care and medical practices dealing specifically with pre-natal, birth, & post-natal care. It has been very interesting seeing her perspective on things and we are very lucky that she speaks quite a bit of English. Here's a picture of Ayden with Olga - he absolutely loves her!

We've done a little swimming....

...miniature golfing.......a visit from cousin Anneke from Texas....Last weekend we took a paddle boat cruise on Lake Tahoe with "the russians." Anneke got to go with us, so that was fun. Ayden was really good and loved pointing out all of the mountains. He insisted that I take his picture with the wierd captain statue/mannequin guy and then wouldn't smile or look at the camera...gotta love 2 1/2 year olds!

About a week ago we were treated to a couple awesome thunderstorms! I couldn't get a picture of actual lightning, just the lit-up sky. We don't usually see weather like this in California, so it was all everyone was talking about the next day. We stood outside with our neighbors and watched the show until it started pouring.
