No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed!!

Literally. Ayden learned his lesson the hard way. He was supposed to be in his bed, but instead snuck into our room and was jumping on our bed, hit his head on the headboard, and got a big ol' gash. Head wounds bleed profusely, of course, so it looked way worse than it actually was. He was such a trooper and let us clean him up, to discover that it was bad enough to need stitches. We loaded him in the car, and headed to the ER. On the way there, I was envisioning it taking half the night because of all the ER horror stories I've heard. We were so lucky that was not the case. We were in and out in about an hour. Ayden was in a great mood, I think he was excited because he knew he was up late. On the way there, he was singing "No More Monkeys Jumping on the Bed" - we were cracking up! It was at that point that we relaxed and knew our little guy was fine. Ayden only cried while the doctor put in the staples, which by the way, I did not know were actually metal staples that look like the ones in a staple gun - yikes! It was our turn to cry when we found out we have a $100 copay for the ER - yikes again!
We headed home and he fell asleep in the car. When he woke up as Ken was getting him out of the car he said, "Daddy I had a bad dream." It was hilarious because we have been talking about dreams a lot and how they are just pretend. We had to tell him that "the big hole in his head" (his words-not ours) was, in fact, real.
I resisted the urge to grab my camera on the way out the door, but did get a few snapshots from my phone.

Here he is on the way to the hospital, complete with the bloody pj's. Ken had the forethought to grab a towel so we didn't get an blood on the carseat!

He was asking the nurse questions about all of the equipment "What's that for? What's that?

Here he is waiting in the exam room. We changed him out of the bloody shirt as soon as we could. We had to sing songs to keep him distracted because the kid in the next room over was screaming at the top of his lungs!

Poor kiddo! Be glad for that $100 copay. Trevor's 2 staples cost me over $1000 with our crappy insurance!
